Who are we and how we started?
ArtCava is made up of two entrepreneurs: Èric, who is the winemaker, and Ignasi, who takes care of the business stuff. We made our dream come true in 2004. During an evening drinking a glass of cava we had an idea. With a lot of work and determination, this has become a marvelous reality, a small winery with an enchanting location in one of the most important wine regions in Europe, the Penedès (just 40 minutes from Barcelona).
We make 18,000 bottles of quality artisan cava with our own brand every year, with no chemicals, no expedition liqueurs. Just passion.
Ignasi’s family has been cultivating vineyards and making wine since 1730, but the old cellar was abandoned in the 1950s and is now in poor condition. There’s when we decided to bring it back to life. We have always worked to ensure that the space does not lose its rustic charm.
Our intention was not to build another cellar, but to recognize and respect the way in which it worked. From the fusion of the past and the present comes ArtCava, a unique wine tourism space in the Penedès.
When we say past, we really mean it. e know from archaeological excavations that the Iberians were in the same place where ArtCava is located like about 2.500 years ago. Since then, we have had enough time to perfect this art.
We bet for proximity tourism. We are happy to customize our visits. we prefer to apply the philosophy of the “slow journey” and we are proud of our way of doing it. Come and visit us and you will find that we are young, enthusiastic and completely in love with our business (Sometimes we can’t call it a job).
