Who are we and how we started?

ArtCava are two entrepreneurs: Èric, the winemaker, and Ignasi, who looks after the business side. We opened the doors of ArtCava in 2004. One evening, chatting over a glass of cava, we had an idea. With a lot of hard work and determination, that idea has become a wonderful reality — a charming small winery nestled in one of the most important wine regions in Europe, the Penedès (just 40 minutes from Barcelona).

We produce 18,000 bottles of quality artisan cava by hand every year, adding nothing — no chemicals, no expedition liqueur. Just passion.

Ignasi’s family has been growing grapes and making wine since 1730, but the old winery was abandoned in the 1950s and had fallen into disrepair. That was when we decided to breathe life back into its walls. We have always worked to ensure the space never lost its rustic charm.

Our intention was never to build just another winery, but to acknowledge and respect the way things were done in the past. From the fusion of past and present, ArtCava was born — the most unique wine tourism destination in the Penedès.

When we say past, we really mean it. Archaeological excavations have shown that the Iberians made wine on this very site around 2,500 years ago. From then until now, we’ve had plenty of time to perfect the craft.
